Despit Brexit and political uncertainties, the real estate industry continues to prosper. This was also be reflected at EXPO REAL in Munich from October 4 to 6, 2016; the number of exhibitors has increased again.
In 2016, 1764 exhibitors were presented at the trade fair in Munich and this means growth of 3,3 percent. Digital helpers were on hand to exploit the potential of the trade fair optimally: an app with new features, live streaming of parts of the Conference program for the first time as well as networking with MatchUp! and social media.
The star guest at EXPO REAL 2016 was NOURIEL ROUBINI. The US economist was one of the few who predicted the real estate bubble burst in 2007. The topics were discussed: The real estate and investment industry are also concerned with Brexit and the question behind it: What does the future of Europe look like with national barriers?
MURRY COX, the founder of the website ‘’Inside Airbnb’’, analyzed the new social portals in hospitality and residential market competition. The impact of website Airbnb on the hotel sector has been seismic. Launched in 2008, by the end of 2015 it had accumulated over three million nights of bookings. According to hospitality consultancy HVS, by 2018 Airbnb will book five million room nights per year. Between September 2014 and August 2015, 480,000 hotel room nights were reserved while over 2.8 million room nights were booked via Airbnb. So how is the hospitality industry dealing with the new arrival?
