BAU 2019 Presents Itself in XXL Format
BAU, World’s Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials and Systems, presented itself in XXL format from January 14 to 19, 2019. Thanks to the construction of the new exhibition halls C5 and C6, the exhibition space of Messe München, has been enlarged to cover approximately 200,000 qm.
BAU occupied all 18 exhibition halls and thus has been larger than ever before.2.250 exhibitors from 45 countries presented architecture, materials and systems for commercial and residential construction.
‘’Expanding the exhibition space was a very important step for BAU’’, says Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, Deputy CEO of Messe München: ‘’Firstly, we can now accomodate in part the exhibitors’ requests for more space. Secondly we can reduce the waiting list we have for some sections of the show, and thirdly - perhaps the most important point - we can integrate two new future- oriented themes into BAU, in a section on Lighting and Smart Building.’’
When BAU opened its doors on January 14, 2019, all 18 exhibition halls were fully booked down to the last square metres. Around 40% of the exhibitors came from abroad, which corresponds to a plus of six percent compared with 2017. On the visitor side, there are good chances that the level of 250,000 visitors could be exceeded.
An addition to the interdisciplinary portfolio of BAU is the new exhibition segment ‘’Lighting/Smart Building’’. This new segmenthas been a link to existing segments such as ‘’Facade systems’’, ‘’Doors and windows’’ or ‘’Energy technology’’. The new exhibition segment ‘’Light/Smart Building’’ occupies Hall2 and encompasses solar protection systems, daylight management, light bands/ light domes, artificial lighting concepts, building automation / building control and lifts.
Another new feature is the Digital Village in Hall C5. In keeping with the motto ‘’We connect, we maximize, we inspire’’, it brings digital initiatives of the building indutry together with topical developments of the software industry for the first time ever. Here, selected start-ups present their products and business ideas. The best digital idea for the future of building has been awarded a prize.
Within the framework of BAU 2019, numerous prizes have been awarded once again, including the Bauwelt Award, the DATAIL Award, the AIT Innovation Award and the BAKA Award for Product Innovations.
